Cattle Farms | PILAGÁ RANCH - CAPIL S.A.

"SAN MARTÍN", "ITÁ CAABÓ" AND "RINCÓN DE YEGUAS" CATTLE FARMS

They are located in the department of Mercedes, in the center of the province of Corrientes. All the activities carried out at these farms are oriented to Braford breeding. San Martín is the breeding ranch, while rearing is mainly carried out at the Itá Caabó cattle farm, and Rincón de Yeguas is mainly concerned with the preparation of livestock for auctions and competitions.

The cattle farms are run on approximately 8,000 leased hectares. The dominant environment is one of sloping shallow soils with rocky outcrops, covered with natural, short and tender pastures. There are also flood-prone lowlands, where the Cortaderia selloana, (commonly known as “pampas grass”) is dominant.

The main implanted pastures are Setaria submacrostachya grass and Digitaria decumbens, while rearing is annually carried out on ray grasses.

"LAS PALMITAS" CATTLE FARM

It is located in Campo Gallo, in the northeast of the province of Santiago del Estero. The rearing and preparation of breeding animals for the dirty area— that is, the majority of the NEA and NOA markets—takes place at this cattle farm. In addition, this is where CAPIL materializes its meat production project to offer livestock for slaughtering.

The cattle farm spreads over an area of 10,000 hectares, of which 6,000 hectares are already used in production. Ninety percent of the land is covered with Gatton Panic, a widely spread pasture in NOA. The remaining area of land is used for growing crops to feed the cattle (mainly corn and sorghum)—an activity that not only boosts the ranch's production but also contributes to cattle rearing and finishing in general—and accommodates a feedlot with a total carrying capacity of 2,000 heads.
