Pilagá consists of a total herd of 11,000 head and our leased cattle farms cover an area of 12,000 hectares, located in the provinces of Corrientes and Santiago del Estero.
For many years, Pilagá has enjoyed a reputation for prestige as a ranch that offers commercial breeding stock for the entire livestock distribution map. The Pilagá biotype is recognized for its functionality, efficiency and hardiness. Value is added to the biotype through the predictability provided by objective genealogical data (pedigrees), performance data, and information from genetic evaluations (DEPs) and meat quality evaluations by ultrasonography.
The objective of Pilagá´s work program is to build up the prestige and strengthen Pilagá Biotype´s commercial breeding stock, while generating a premium product—elite animals—that may be leveraged by other breeders and cattlemen in the country and abroad.
The genetic program is based on two essential pillars: a solid and selected herd of Donor Cows and an embryo transfer program, consisting of a small and consistent herd of Donors.
The herd has its origin in single-branded, efficient and functional Donor Cows, to which we have incorporated the genetics of Herd Sires of our own production, from other Argentine ranches and from some Australian genetic lines, all of them thoroughly analyzed. The main Herd Sires are: Ascot Rum 888, Neimen Xpo, CD Grandeur, Kachapé, Chavarría, Magno, Caraí, Avá, Pilagás 8993 Che Rubichá, Pilagás 7317 Ore M'Bae.
Rincón de Yeguas (Mercedes, Corrientes) is at the heart of the ranch. This cattle farm is the home of the elite animals, the specimens that will be exhibited every year at the most important cattle shows and competitions in the country. Its annual circuit includes national and international cattle competiotions such as the Braford National Show, ExpoBra, and the Palermo Rural Show, as well as regional competitions such as The Rural Show of Salta, Mercedes (Corrientes) and Corrientes City, where Rincón de Yeguas has obtained outstanding prizes.
The Pilagá Ranch has obtained the Braford Merit Award for five consecutive years, between 2013 and 2017, as the Best Performing Ranch in Expositions of the breed throughout the country.
